Beaches are one of the most popular tourist destinations in India. With its extensive coastline, India is home to hundreds of picturesque beaches. These beaches are located in places like Goa, Kerala, and Mumbai. Some of the most famous beaches in India are mentioned below:
Goa
Goa has a shoreline of 100 km, which is dotted with some of the best beaches in the world. Situated between the Western Ghats and the Arabian Sea, Goa combines charm with tradition and style. Goa is an absolute heaven for the beach lovers and it lets you explore a thrilling new beach every day. You can choose from a wide array of beaches like Betul, Colva, Calangute, Dona Paula, Baga, Gasper Dias, Bogmalo, Anjuna, and Vagotor. Covelong
Covelong is a pleasant beach located between Chennai and Mahabalipuram. It is also a popular fishing area. It was previously constructed as a port by Saadat Ali, who was the Nawab of Carnatic. The French General Laboudonnais stalled his forces in Covelong in 1746. It was subsequently acquired by Clive in 1752 and devastated. The canal flowing from Chennai to Mahabalipuram separates the beach from the mainland. The Fisherman's Cove Resort is operated by Taj Group of Hotels. It will take around one hour's drive from Chennai city or the airport to reach Covelong beach.
Kovalam
Kovalam beach is one of the most popular beaches in India. It is only 16 kms away from Thiruvananthapuram or Trivandrum, the capital of Kerala. The beach is famous for its sky-blue waters and strips of green palm orchards. The resort is similar to a small village with facilities like yoga, water sports, conventional oil massage, and particular arrangements for Kathakali dances and other forms of local entertainment.
Bangaram Island
Bordered by an unbroken silverish beach, the Bangaram Island Resort is surrounded by a water body, which is 6 km wide and 10 km long. The resort is located on an area of around 40 sq. kms.
